OUR METAMODERN CULTURE IS A PROGRESSION OF THE BEATS CULTURE OF THE 50’S

Our metamodern culture is a progression of the Beats culture, only the twist is that the selfishness is key.  In the Beats culture, individualism as in non-conformity ,was key, but that option, no longer exists. Today, the metamodernists are admittedly selfish and care for that which is only beneficial to them and fuck everybody else.

The Beats culture was against the “man”, against what was common and wrong; against what the sheep believed.  It was this literary group who spoke-up and allowed the thinkers to rise, allowed the people who believed in community to stand tall, allowed the conformists’ to take a personal position for the greater of the community, man, the underdog.

What has happened to that thought of non-conformity?

Where has the drive for right, for the greater good, disappeared to?

How is it that the greatest generation has left this legacy to lead the era to implosion?

What will happened when no one cares about the truth of the situation and all that they really care about is which side is making the loudest noise, to join ‘that’ group?

The hippie generation listened to the messages of the Beats, understood and realized that they were being led around by their noses, so they rebelled; so why are they now the ones who have such irreverence to the aspect of a two-sided dialogue, and agree so heartedly that which is mainstream.  Why are they conforming?  Yet the Gen Z is realising that conforming is NOT the way.

Gen Z are the least greedy generation, familiar with experience and never able to earn enough money to buy their way into anything…yet.  As the hippie, babyboomers have shown the world with their unwillingness to leave their careers and their massive wealth.  …then again, maybe they rebelled to reposition themselves…

And no, Beats are NOT Beatniks, Beats are thinkers and doers.
